artSPARK Creative Studio is a unique art making space offering art + sewing classes, camps, parties, and workshops for toddlers-teens to explore ideas, techniques, and processes in Littleton, CO. artSPARK is a TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) inspired studio.  We teach how to think, not what to think; how to make, not what to make. We love process art and a choice-based approach to inspire creative thinking. We follow the child and focus on each student as a unique individual. SUMMER CAMP Studio Assistant

*POSITION FILLED* Studio Assistants support the Lead Instructor in providing students with a safe, creative, inclusive, and fun learning experience. Assistants will be responsible for studio maintenance (organizational tasks and cleaning) while assisting with the guiding, of up to 16 students, in a choice based art learning environment. Studio Assistants are expected to learn and anticipate the needs of offering (class, camp, party), and to jump in as needed to support the students and the Lead Instructor throughout the shift. The Lead Instructor may direct Studio Assistant.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work collaboratively with Lead Instructor and assist them to prepare for offering, including reviewing teaching guides

  • Welcome students at the beginning of the offering, guide and support them to wash hands and put on art smocks 

  • Support students to help them engage in age and skill appropriate art making and clean up

  • Cleaning and organizing art studio and materials

  • Support Lead Instructors with classroom management in the use of effective and compassionate classroom management techniques

  • Work with students and Lead Instructor to navigate students social-emotional needs, including individual interventions as necessary. Meet students where they are to support a variety of different learning styles.

  • Communicate with Lead Instructor and Manager as needed

  • Support an inclusive environment to encourage a sense of belonging and comfort by empowering students to express their thoughts and opinions about art and make connections with art

  • Supervise students outside during snack and lunch breaks, to keep kids safe as they eat and play (this task will only be expected during Summer and School Break Camps)

  • Support an educational practice that centers on equity, diversity and inclusion

  • Yearly goal setting to support professional growth 

SCHEDULE

  • 8-3:30 M-F May 28-July 26 (July 4th week off).

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Skills, etc.)

  • Be 18 yrs or older with a minimum of a high school diploma

  • A high level of responsibility, creativity and professionalism. Ability to work efficiently with attention to detail. Excellent organizational, cleaning, and communication skills.

  • A Team Player with a positive work ethic

  • Some formal or informal experience working with children

  • Possess a basic understanding of child developmental phases

  • Passion for art and arts-integrated learning

  • Experience with crafts and/or art making

  • Comfortable working in a choice-based learning environment

  • Ability to engage students with diverse identities and experiences in art

  • Awareness of and attentiveness to individual needs of students and able to help students navigate social-emotional needs

  • Flexible schedule: Weekend/After School/Evening/Year Round Availability

COMPENSATION $15 hr starting pay with the opportunity to increase to $15.50 after 90 days


Lead art Instructor

*POSITION FILLED* Lead Instructors are responsible for developing and implementing choice based art lessons that teach media specific skills while encouraging the student to think creatively and work independently. Lead Instructors provide students with a safe, creative, inclusive, and fun learning experience. The Lead Instructor will work with a Studio Assistant.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and include engaging art making activities and experiences by introducing students to new artistic practices and art forms.

  • Compile a supply list as needed

  • Prep and set up instructional materials

  • Build an inclusive environment to encourage a sense of belonging and comfort

  • Facilitate and support students with artmaking projects

  • Support the social & emotional development of children and meet students where they are to support a variety of different learning styles.

  • Work collaboratively and thoughtfully with a Lead Instructor and Manager assigned by artSPARK. This includes sharing lesson plans with the Assistant ahead of time and dividing tasks throughout the shift. 

  • Greet students and track attendance on select offerings. Communicate with caregiver(s) as needed

  • Use a variety of instruction strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, lecture, discovery

  • Integrate a teaching practice that centers on equity and diversity

  • Empower students to express their thoughts and opinions about their art and plan an end-of-class sharing time for students 

  • Utilize effective and compassionate classroom management techniques, including social-emotional and/or behavioral interventions if needed

  • Engage students in making connections with art and other artists

  • Yearly goal setting to support professional growth

  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree

  • 1 year minimum art teaching experience with children

  • Must be available both Saturdays AND Sundays. You will not be scheduled to work on both weekend days (unless you want to) but must have availability to do so.

Birthday Party Host

Birthday Party Hosts are Lead Instructors that are responsible for implementing the pre planned art lessons for ages 3-12 in a party environment. The Party Host allows the student to think creatively and work independently while gently guiding them through the process. Birthday Party Hosts provide students with a safe, creative, inclusive, and fun learning experience.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prep and set up party materials

  • Build an inclusive environment to encourage a sense of belonging and comfort

  • Facilitate and support students with art making projects

  • Support the social & emotional development of children and meet students where they are to support a variety of different learning styles.

  • Work collaboratively and thoughtfully with a Studio Assistant assigned by artSPARK. This includes sharing lesson plans with the Assistant ahead of time and dividing tasks throughout the shift. 

  • Greet families and track attendance.

  • Build an inclusive environment to encourage a sense of belonging and comfort

  • Utilize effective and compassionate classroom management techniques, including social-emotional and/or behavioral interventions if needed

  • Engage students in making connections with art and other artists

  • Yearly goal setting to support professional growth

  • Ability to help children navigate social-emotional needs

  • *To become a successful Party Host, training for this position will include working as a Studio Assistant for short time (time varies for each person) to learn the party options, studio practices, processes and procedures.

SCHEDULE

  • Saturday + Sunday + Possibly Friday afternoons in studio and offsite

  • Three hour shifts within the hours of 9-6.

  • Must be available both Saturdays AND Sundays. You will not be scheduled to work on both weekend days (unless you want to) but must have availability to do so.

Kids machine Sewing Instructor

*POSITION FILLED* Sewing Instructors are responsible for teaching a pre planned machine sewing curriculum to ages 9 and up. Instructors provide students with a safe, creative, inclusive, and fun learning experience.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prep and set up 4 sewing machines and materials

  • Teach basic machine sewing skills through an artSPARK developed curriculum

  • Build an inclusive environment to encourage a sense of belonging and comfort

  • Facilitate and support students with sewing projects

  • Support the social & emotional development of children and meet students where they are to support a variety of different learning styles.

  • Greet students and track attendance.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Skills, etc.)

  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree

  • 1 year minimum sewing teaching experience with children

  • Passion for sewing

  • A proficient knowledge of hand and machine sewing techniques

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Energetic and positive demeanor

  • Attention to detail

  • Excellent organizational, cleaning and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of Montessori, Reggio or TAB(Teaching for Artistic Behavior) teaching methodologies a plus

  • Skilled in classroom management and comfortable guiding a small group of 4 students that are working on a variety of sewing projects.

  • Ability to help children navigate social-emotional needs

  • *To become a successful Sewing Instructor, training for this position will include working as a Sewing Assistant for 4 classes to learn the sewing curriculum, studio practices, processes and procedures. After those 4 classes you will work as the Instructor while being observed and supported.

SCHEDULE

  • Weekday Evenings 5:30-8:30

  • Occasionally Sunday afternoons 3:30-6:30

Preschool Lead Instructor

*POSITION FILLED* Preschool Lead Instructors are responsible for leading preschool and adult + child art classes, camps, workshops and parties for ages 1-6. Preschool Lead Instructors allow the student to think creatively and work independently and provide students with a safe, creative, inclusive, and fun learning experience.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and include engaging art making activities and experiences by introducing students to new artistic processes

  • Compile a supply list as needed

  • Prep and set up art making materials in an aesthetically pleasing way

  • Build an inclusive environment to encourage a sense of belonging and comfort

  • Facilitate and support students with process art making activities

  • Support the social & emotional development of children and meet students where they are to support a variety of different learning styles.

  • Work collaboratively and thoughtfully with a Studio Assistant and Manager assigned by artSPARK. This includes sharing lesson plans with the Assistant ahead of time and dividing tasks throughout the shift. 

  • Greet students and track attendance on select offerings. Communicate with caregiver(s) as needed

  • Integrate a teaching practice that centers on equity and diversity

  • Empower students to express their thoughts and opinions about their art experiences

  • Utilize effective and compassionate classroom management techniques, including social-emotional and/or behavioral interventions if needed

  • Yearly goal setting to support professional growth 

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Skills, etc.)

  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree

  • 1 year minimum preschool teaching experience

  • Strong understanding of the needs of toddlers and preschoolers

  • A passion for creativity with an emphasis on process over product

  • Love watching little people create their own authentic masterpieces and make messes

  • Must be organized and have attention to detail with studio aesthetics/maintenance and material set-up

  • Demonstrate a warm, professional demeanor when communicating with parents.

  • Basic knowledge of a variety of art mediums and teaching techniques within these mediums

  • Knowledge of Montessori, Reggio or TAB(Teaching for Artistic Behavior) teaching methodologies a plus

  • Skilled in classroom management 

  • Ability to help children navigate social-emotional needs

*To become a successful Lead Instructor, training for this position will include working as a Studio Assistant for short time to best learn the studio practices, processes and procedures. Time varies for each person but could be up to 6 months dependent on the amount of shifts worked.

SCHEDULE

  • Flexible schedule and weekend availability required.

  • This is a part time and supplemental income job as the hours per week will vary.

  • Saturdays and Sundays between 9-6, occasionally weekday mornings + afternoons
