Welcome to our Student Online Art Show!

This online show is an opportunity and a choice for our 5th-8th grade and Middle School groups enrolled in Drawing + Painting.

Students in our 1st-4th grade Drawing + Painting or Maker Club courses work more on the foundational parts of the artistic process and will have something to look forward to when they grow into the older classes. You can see pics of their studio time on our Instagram or Facebook pages @artsparkcreativestudio.

Artwork gets updated every December & May

We have 2 art shows every year at the end of our Fall/Spring courses. The artwork in these galleries is only from those in our older age groups that felt ready to show their work. Creating authentic art is a process that doesn’t always end in a final product during a short period depending on where you are in the artistic process.

The artwork here is unique to each young artist and inspired by an authentic view they want to share. The artistic process is cyclical and includes exploring, planning, making, refining, and reflecting. Each artist shows something personal and meaningful when they are ready.

Please take a moment to scroll down and read some of the artist statements. Kids have GREAT ideas and so much to share.

As one artist told us at the end of this course, “I like this because in my other art class we don’t have the time to do what we want. It’s always, do this, do this, do this, and I can never make the ideas I want.” Another artist agreed, “In my other art class I can never get the ideas out of my head that keep coming.”

A BIG thank you to Sarah R, Lead Instructor, and Claire M., Assistant Instructor, as well as Mrs. H, our Studio Manager, for guiding these groups. Our teaching artists are integral to the continued growth of these students.

Thank you so much for viewing and learning more about our programs.

Multiverse

Mixed Media on Paper,  9”x12”

Aaliyah, age 12, Winter 2023

I created a piece of artwork with each shape depicting a different scenery.

I created this using many different materials, such as paint, alcohol markers, sharpies, and oil pastels.

It all started with a class assignment, “Exploring paint,” which I really liked, so I decided to expand on it and I added to the painting.  I ended up using it as my end project.

Blues

Mixed Media on Paper,  9”x12”

Iris, age 13, Winter 2023

I created an art piece using a unique, yet simple color along with a popular art style.

I decided to try a different art style with different color themes.  It was a unique experience that I would like to try more.

I created this piece because I wanted to experiment with different colors and ideas that I have never done before. I am proud that I tried something new.

The Fight

Mixed Media on Canvas,  16”x20”

Saya, age 12, Winter 2023

I created a fight scene between two powerful characters from a show I like.

I used acrylic paint and some Sharpie.  The painting evolved in layers as my ideas changed.

I wanted to create this because I wanted to make something from the show I like.  I’m very proud of it.

Symphony of Suffering

Acrylic Paint on Canvas,  16”x20”

Will,  age 13, Winter 2023

I created an abstract painting.

I started with a solid background, then I dripped paint from a cup on a string using my pendulum paint set up, and then I painted into the spaces it created.  I had to start over twice to get it to look like I wanted it to look.

I wanted to try a process that was new to me.  I’m very proud of how it turned out.

Let Your Imagination Fly

Pencil and Art Markers on Paper, 12”x18”

Addie, age 11, Winter 2023

I created a ghost surrounded by sunflowers with a mythical sky.  The words in front say, “Let your imagination fly.”

I created my piece with markers and the details are in pencil.  I challenged myself by doing things I usually don’t do, like drawing fabric and flowers.

I saw an image online that inspired me, but then I added my own little adjustments.  My goal is to inspire other people to use their creativity and imagination.  I want people to see my message…, “Let your imagination fly!”

Mushrooms in the Forest

Mixed Media on Paper, 6”x9”

Romeo, age 13, Winter 2023

I created mushrooms that light up in the dark forest helping animals see the way.

I used a pencil, then outlined it with a Sharpie, and then I colored it with art markers.

I made this because mushrooms are a unique type of fungi that come in a variety of colors that can be used to create art.

Full Moon’s Light

Mixed Media on Canvas,  16”x20”

Ellie,  age 12, Winter 2023

I created a piece of artwork that displays a city with an abstract background and a moonlit city.

I used acrylic paint and a squeegee to make the background and the moon.  I also used oil pastels for the city and stars.

I created this because I love abstract art and I wanted to test my skills as an artist with the city.

Minecraft Farm

Art Marker on Canvas,  12”x12”

Vivi, age 11, Winter 2023

I created a Minecraft drawing and I colored it with only markers.  I got inspired by the game Minecraft, so I drew Steve and two of my favorite animals.

I created it by drawing a bunch of Minecraft characters individually, then I chose three of my favorites and put them into one big drawing.   I’m very proud of it.

I chose to create this because I love playing the game Minecraft, and I wanted to learn how to draw the characters, so I thought this up and made my masterpiece.

Angel of Light

Acrylic Paint on Canvas,  12”x12”

Kristi, age 12, Winter 2023

When me and my friends were younger we would create our own characters and escape to our own world.  This is a piece of one of my favorite characters.

I spent almost a week sketching and planning out this piece.   When I finally started painting, I was worried it wouldn’t live up to my expectations.  I am very happy with it!

My friends and I stopped role playing, so I wanted to recreate it through my art and writing.

Peanut Butter Jelly Time

Mixed Media on Canvas,  16”x20”

Amelia, age 10, Winter 2023

I created a canvas that has a dance party on it.  It consists of three characters: Banana Man, Roblox Lady, and my favorite, Snail.  Snail is a snail wearing a tuxedo, and he is very proper.

I created my artwork with a sketch on a piece of lined paper.  I then sketched on my canvas, finally painting and coloring each character and the floor.

I chose to create this because I had just been to a party and I wanted to put it in my artwork.

Kolor Your World

Mixed Media on Canvas,  12”x16”

Bailen, age 12, Winter 2023

I created a dragon flying across a world that seems like his own, but suddenly realizes it is a dream, but he can never wake up.

I used paint, alcohol markers, and watercolor.  I then collaged different pieces together.

I can never see if my world is real life, or just what I would like it to be.

The Turkey

Acrylic Paint on Canvas, 12”x18”

Kaia, age 11, Winter 2023

I created a happy turkey.  I used paint and mixed almost all of the colors myself.  I like birds and I think turkeys are cute.  I was also inspired by Thanksgiving.

The Car

Acrylic Paint on Canvas,  16”x20”

Alex, age 11, Winter 2023

I created a car that is driving.  I used acrylic paint and alcohol markers. I made a lot of mistakes and had to wait a lot, but in the end it paid off.  I was able to make it look good.

I like cars and I’m good with perspective.
