Kids Sew:  age 9 +

With Michele Hardesty, Co-Founder of artSPARK

Learn to sew and master your sewing skills!  This class is for a variety of skilled sewers, from the beginner with no experience to students with some basic experience that would like to practice and develop their sewing skills further. The goal of this class is to teach students how to sew independently. Students will be expected to set up and use the sewing machines and will be taught how to thread the machine, wind the bobbin, pin fabric and patterns, hand sew, cut and iron fabric. We will discuss and use a variety of fabrics and color selection.  Sewers will create basic and fun sewing projects, appropriate for their skill level, while developing problem solving and critical thinking skills. Beginner projects include a drawstring bag, scarf, stuffed animal, fold over pouch and pillow. This class will improve sewing abilities and boost self confidence. Kids Sew can be taken multiple times, as a variety of sewing projects will be available for students who have completed one session successfully. This class is challenging for kids under 9, due to the critical thinking skills and independent work that is required.

We provide all materials and a sewing machine to use but If your child has a sewing machine that he/she knows how to use, he/she is welcome to bring it to class. Please do not send your beginner sewer to class with a machine that he/she does not know how to use. *If you are looking to purchase a sewing machine, we use and recommend the Brother CS 6000i. It’s a great machine for beginners and advanced sewers.

*No refunds or make ups for missed classes. If you need to reschedule the course, you must do so 3 weeks prior to the start of the course to transfer.
